The stage is set for the launch of a brand new annual African Arts festival for Manchester.

The first Amani festival, which is the brainchild of African-led social enterprise, Amani Creatives, will take place between 12 noon and 8pm on Saturday, 22 July at Sacred Trinity Church, Chapel Street, Salford M3 7WQ. It represents the opportunity for all residents and cultures of Salford and Manchester city centre to come together to celebrate high quality African arts, including live music, storytelling, face decoration, dance and workshops, thus enriching the local arts scene. Food and related cultural traders stalls will also be on site.

Amani Creatives supports the inclusion of local African communities into wider society through performing arts events, workshops and programmes which use arts and culture as a tool for community development, wellbeing and community cohesion. The organisation was set up in January 2015 by Congolese singer-songwriter, Emmanuela Yogolelo and Cameroonian Jazz musician, Tagne Tebu.

The festival has been made possible thanks to a Big Lottery Fund Celebrate Award.
