Amani Live Black History Month Special

Live Music, Dance and Storytelling from the African Diaspora

An exciting, up-and-coming artist collective, Amani Platnet are bringing the hottest, new talent from the African diaspora to the heart of Manchester in this monthly, family-friendly event.

Come and experience the polyphonic singing and Intore dance of the irresistible Rumba, Mutwashi, Agwaya and Soukous beats, elaborate Afro- Jazz from Cameroon, salsa from Cuba.

Don’t miss our Black History Month special on Thursday 1st October with the spectacular Cuban band, Cafe Con Lecheplaying salsa, son, cha cha cha, and a selection of songs linking the music back to its African roots.

Acclaimed Jamaican tap dancer, Imani Jendai will perform a musical dance conversation with Tagné Tebu from Cameroon on djembe and guest poets Nikky Norton Shafau and Christina Fontes will be performing spoken word gems for your delight.

Come and celebrate the far-reaching cultural influence of the African diaspora, in the heart of Manchester’s Northern Quarter.
